THE CANYONS AND ROCK SERIES
G E O L O G I C A L L Y I N S P I R E D C E R A M I C S
My absolute favorite landscapes to explore are rocky canyons. I'm fortunate to have many to choose from in my local mountains. There are so many beautiful discoveries to make while hiking through a canyon including: intriguing rocks, little plants thriving in tiny pockets of soil on outcroppings, amazing views, fossils or petroglyphs hiding on boulders, a herd of big horn sheep in the distance keeping an eye on you.
Canyon walls are beautifully layered, eroded, oxidized and weathered over millions of years, the product of a variety of natural elements and events shaping them over time, etching the history of that particular region onto their surfaces. Over time chunks of these canyon walls become boulders and rocks, smaller versions of the canyon wall. My goal is to try to capture some of that breathtaking beauty in this series.
Every plant pot, vase or mug in this series is distinct and the series keeps evolving based on new discoveries and my latest visit to a canyon.
