I was raised firmly rooted in the Desert Southwest with family on both sides of the US/Mexico border. One aspect of my Mexican heritage is comfort with seeing skeletons in art and culture. As an artist, one of my favorite things to draw is this aspect of our shared human anatomy. I find skeletons humbling, nobody is can deny this part of our selves. It's fundamentally part of us and what will be left of us when we are gone.
This design for 2017 was made using a slip transfer of an illustration I drew.
